Healdton Bulldogs 2023 Football Team Preview – Presented by Henry Roberts Express Pharmacy

HEALDTON BULLDOGS

Coach: DYLAN TERRY

1-9

OFFENSE

First year head coach Dylan Terry is looking forward to the start of the 2023 season and starting the process of turning things around at Healdton. “We are excited about the upcoming season, and the opportunity to build our program. Our focus for this season is completely on us and changing the standard for our football program. We trust and believe in our players and know they have the ability to turn things around,” said Terry. Five starters are back from last season including Maurice Macias (6-0, 180, Sr.) at quarterback. Macias will navigate the pro-style offense the Bulldogs will run this season and use multiple personnel like Marshall Johnson (5-10, 185, Sr.) in the run game. Johnson won’t be alone in the backfield as fullback Shane McGahan (5-9, 160, So.) adds his talents to the run game. Triston Altstatt (6-3, 275, Jr.) is a big reason the team will have a sound run attack. Altstatt and Braden Stark (5-11, 255, So.) are two big road graders who look to open holes and move chains. Also look for Nic Timmons (6-1, 160, Sr.) at wide receiver. Timmons can help stretch the field and give Macias a big target in the throwing lanes.

DEFENSE

Five starters are back in the 4-3 scheme the Bulldogs will utilize this season. Jason Josey (6-0, 265, Sr.) alongside Alan Gaither (5-11, 225, Jr.), and Howard Murray (5-10, 210, So.) are charged with owning the line of scrimmage and not allowing teams to gain easy first downs up the middle of the defense. Altstatt and Stark will see time up front as well. Roo Franklin (6-0, 220, So.) and Devon Bivens (5-11, 185, So.) can rotate in on the line or at linebacker. Franklin may spend time at running back on offense while Bivens is likely to start at tight end. Jack Thompson (5-10, 175, Jr.) is another two-way player who will occupy one of the linebacker spots on defense and play some wide receiver on offense. “We will present multiple personnel and fronts, while playing physical and fundamental defense,” said Terry.
