Ardmore girls basketball player Alivea Pettigrew recently spoke with VYPE to discuss who she is.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
Alivea: My personal goals for this year are to maintain straight As, push myself in every practice, score at least 10 points per game, and be a better leader to my team.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Alivea: The most fun i’ve had in the last year was when me and my friends went to the haunted house together.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
Alivea: My favorite teacher is Mrs.Fairmaner because she is so sweet and kindhearted.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Alivea: My favorite athletic memory is from 3rd grade when I hit the game winning shot in the championship of a basketball tournament.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Alivea:The teammates that have left the biggest impressions on me are Shaylin Sykes and Khamylle Williamson. Shaylin has a great work ethic and always has a positive attitude towards everyone which has pushed me to be like her. Khamylle goes hard at everything she does even when she is dog tired. She also has great defense and can stop anybody she guards and i strive to push myself like she pushes herself.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
Alivea: My favorite part of being on this team is the bond that we are creating. Even though we get mad at each other we are all still a family at the end of the day. They are the sisters I’ve always wanted and I love every one of them.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
Alivea:I would either pick New York, New York or Charlotte,North Carolina because they are both beautiful cities. I would probably bring Milana, deljuan, and takyha.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
Alivea: I would most likely spend it on online shopping or groceries.
VYPE: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs?
Alivea: I am apart of NHS.
