Lone Grove Cheer Spotlight Presented by J & J Auto

Bailey Brandenburg is in her second year leading the Lone Grove cheerleading squad. Her team is full of hard workers that do not know what it means to give up or quit.

“Our team’s biggest strength is their drive and determination to be the best they can be,” she said. “Whether it’s on the sideline or on the mats, they always give 100% effort and are willing to learn and get better. This is a team that had twelve girls two years ago and we now have 25. They have put in all the work to grow in their skills and their hard work pays off everyday at practice for competition and every Friday night on the sidelines. I could not be more proud of them and the leadership they exude in our school and community.”

Kennedy Laws is one of the team’s senior captains. Being a part of this team is something that she really enjoys.

“I love the bond that I have with the girls on the team,” she said. “I also love how much they love to cheer.”

Another senior captain, Kassie Burns, says that the atmosphere at the games is one thing that she loves to see.

“I enjoy how the community comes together and shows its support for us and for the school.”

Brandenburg’s squad has worked hard and they have been able to see the results of all that work.

“We received the Herkie award at NCA cheer camp,” the coach said. “It is voted on by other teams for being the most spirited all through camp. We also won the Top Team Band Chant award this year at camp. Lastly we came home with three superior ribbons for the sections that are evaluated at camp (cheer, chant and band chant).”

Torye Jones is also a senior captain on the cheer team. She says that she loves all the aspects of being a member of the Lone Grove cheer team.

“I enjoy the atmosphere of our school and the spirit the students have,” Jones said. “I also love how close our team is with each other and the passion we all have to cheer.”
