Ardmore’s Kierra Dorsey – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Excel Therapy

The high school basketball season is just starting to rev up and Ardmore’s Kierra Dorsey is ready to put in the time, effort, and hard work on and off the court.

Kierra’s basketball journey started in the 5th grade when she joined an AAU basketball team. She credits her parents the most when it comes to encouraging her to play basketball and to continue playing.

Along with the encouragement from her parents, Kierra says the thing she enjoys most about basketball is “playing on the court with the same group of girls I have played with for years, and building a strong relationship with them off and on the court.” With this now being her Junior year, Kierra, is prepared for the road ahead and knows a strong bond between teammates is vital for a successful team. Win or loose, the key to success is doing it as a team.

As for her personal success on the court, Kierra also recognizes that basketball is all about “putting in the work no matter what I was going through, always getting up and motivating myself to put in the work.”

When asked, have you learned anything from basketball that helps you in your daily life? Kierra stated “Basketball teams, like life, can be unpredictable and full of ups and downs. A team may start off strong, but then face setbacks and challenges along the way. In life, we may encounter obstacles that threaten to derail our progress, but it’s important to stay focused and keep pushing forward.”

A few of Kierra’s goals for this year are to continue to develop a work ethic, bring effort, energy and passion to the court, put in the extra work, always be prepared, be coachable and have a positive attitude.

With this positive mindset and determination Kierra will continue to be a beneficial player for the Ardmore team this season and again her Senior year.
