Q&A with Ardmore’s Taylin Hoffman – Presented by Cunningham’s Flooring America

VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?

Taylin: The reason I joined tennis is because one of my friends was on the team so I decided to join freshman year, my friends brother then started to help teach me how to play and I fell in love with the sport.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Taylin: Tennis has taught me how to be mentally strong, you don’t want to show your emotions when playing because your opponent could use that against you.

VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?

Taylin: My favorite memory of playing would be one time I had been playing this girl and we had both won a set and we were doing a super tie breaker and I won, but I was more proud about how I got through that, even though I was super tired and just wanted to sit down I stayed and fought through each point and in the end it was worth it.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

Taylin: My mom is my biggest inspiration, she works hard for what she wants and she is always here when I need her.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Taylin: Joselyn Smith left the biggest impression on me because she worked really hard to do the best she could during every tournament, and she was always so kind.

VYPE: Here’s your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Taylin: I’d like to give a shout out to Derick Chivers for teaching how to play and helping me get better.

VYPE: What is the best advice anyone has given you?

Taylin: The best advice gotten in tennis was from coach Roberts, “Keep it in play”.

VYPE: You can pick any place for summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Taylin: I would love to go out of the country, maybe to England or Italy. I would love to eat all the food and try different things. I would take my mom and a couple of friends with me.

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Taylin: A number three, eight piece chicken nugget with a medium fry, and a medium lemonade from Chick-fil-A.
