Gio Mendoza, an Ardmore High School sophomore, is locked in with baseball.
“The reason I’m passionate about baseball is because when I was younger I would watch the MLB and would always think that it’s so cool to be a professional baseball player,” Mendoza said, “and soon, I realized that’s what I wanted to do and I also want to make my parents proud about me and what I have done in baseball.”
Mendoza is going to play for TBT 2026 this summer. The proudest accomplishment of his career to this point is playing early.
“Last year, when I was 14 years old playing on varsity and also playing for TBT 18U Oklahoma during the summer while still 14 and was still able to compete with them,” Mendoza said.
Mendoza has been playing baseball for about 10 years. His parents introduced him to the sport when he was young. He plays several positions, but his best are second base and outfield.
Mendoza has known since middle middle school that he wants to play collegiate baseball. His goals for the next two years: “Try to have good seasons and get a lot of offers and improve in my game and to maintain my good grades and GPA.”
For the years after: “To go to a good college for baseball and continue my career,” Mendoza said.
