Ardmore’s Codi White – Football Spotlight – Presented by MTC Federal Credit Union

Football and powerlifting work together to build stronger athletes. Football players benefit from the extra strength developed in powerlifting. Codi White, a junior at Ardmore High School, is a football player and powerlifter. His strength on the football field makes him a tough opponent to go against.

Codi has learned three things playing football he uses in everyday life. “Drive, determination and persistence are what it takes to get things done,” he says.

Codi’s passion for football is about more than just going out and having fun playing. While he does have fun and loves the game, his passion comes from a deeper place. “They (sports) engrave and teach traits of dedication and hard work,” he says. “Keep pushing forward,” is the best advice he has been given.

Being part of a team is a rewarding experience. Codi values the bonds and chemistry built between teammates throughout the season. The teammate leaving the biggest impression on him is Derek Meely. “Derek was willing to stay late and help me work to get better as a player,” said Codi.

His start playing football was as a three-year-old playing flag football at the YMCA. His efforts have now been rewarded by being named the Defensive Player of the Game. Codi continues to prove his ability on the field. His status as a student athlete allows him to represent his school, showing that Ardmore has great students.

The professional football player he looks up to is Steelers linebacker, James Harrison. “He is humble, hardworking, and always has something to prove. Harrison went undrafted and cut from many teams but pushes forward,” said Codi.

Codi is thankful to those positively impacting his life, but he first wants to give thanks to God for leading the way. He also sends special thanks to Dad, Mom, all his coaches, family and friends, and his girlfriend.

His favorite teacher is coach Birth, who teaches history. Codi’s favorite food is chicken alfredo. When asked his pick for a vacation destination he chose Florida with his family. Codi participates in National Honor Society and his church.
