Plainview’s Braden French – Football Spotlight – Presented by Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance- Fred Tayar

The love of the game began early for Braden French who grew up watching football with his brother and dad on TV. Going to his older brother’s games further instilled his passion for football. Now a senior at Plainview High School, Braden is no longer watching others. He is on the field doing what he loves best.

“My sport has taught me commitment, dedication, and persistence. I like bonding with the team and watching everyone else work and compete for the same goal,” Braden said.

Representing PHS as an athlete is Braden’s chance to leave a positive impression of his school and his team. He wants others to see the standards they are taught and the way they are coached. Living by the following advice sets a standard for himself and his team. “If you are going to do something, do it wholeheartedly, and make the most of everything you do,” he says.

Some of the best high school memories are made on Friday nights. “My favorite memory was beating Marlow on their senior night with a game winning field goal,” said Braden.

The teammate leaving the biggest impression is Tyler Owen. “Tyler was a senior when I was a freshman and he just kind of took me under his wing and helped me with whatever I needed,” he said.

The athlete he looks up to is Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, Jalen Hurts. Braden admires him for his strong beliefs and how he carries himself. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Kennedy from fourth grade. “She always made sure I was doing okay and wanted to help everybody around,” he says.

Braden is thankful to his family. He is most inspired by his brother Mark, who he looked up to and learned from. Braden wants to thank his parents for always supporting and helping in every way possible. His dream vacation would be traveling with his family to the Virgin Islands.

Along with football, Braden is in track, powerlifting, and FCA.
