Taryn Blankenship is a senior at Marietta High School. She is a multisport athlete, competing in softball, powerlifting, and cheer. While she enjoys being involved in multiple sports, it also requires a lot of time and effort to be at her best.

“You have to work hard every day and push yourself past your limits,” she stated. “You have to have a good mindset and put yourself in charge of how great you can be. What motivates me the most is wanting to be good at the sports I play. I wanna be the best and the only way to achieve that is by working for it.”

Blankenship loves to play her sports, but she also is proud to be able to represent the community of Marietta any time she competes.

“Every time I wear my jersey and step on the field, I not only have my own number but also my school and town’s name on the front,” she said. “I’m no longer representing myself as well as my family and coach but also my school and community.”

When Taryn and her teammates compete, they will always be ready to face whoever is on the other side. But she does have one opponent that she enjoys playing against the most.

“Thackerville is probably the team I like to beat the most,” she stated. “Mainly because all throughout my high school career we’ve always played neck and neck against each other and always play a pretty good game.”

Her teammates have played a big role in her success and Blankenship says she is thankful for all of her teammates.

“I enjoy working with either Kenze or Laney because we’ve all always worked together and are all around the same level of experience,’ she said. “If I had to pick an under-appreciated player, I think it would be Kaygan or Camila. Kaygan is always working hard for herself and us and even sometimes beats herself up for mistakes. Camila is very new to softball but works extremely hard as in being there everyday and pushing herself past her limits.”
