Lone Grove’s Gracie Lewis – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Lone Grove Dental Care Center

Success is something that everyone wants to achieve but not everyone is willing to work for it. Depending on what you are doing, the amount of work can differ, but the requirement of work is there. Gracie Lewis says that reaching her goals keeps her focused.

“It takes a lot of hard work and dedication,” she said. “You also have to give up on other things just to focus on what you are doing. Getting to see the end result of something is what really motivates me.”

Lewis is a sophomore at Lone Grove High School, where she is a member of the basketball and track teams. She is also involved in the school’s Ag program.

As a member of a couple of teams at her school, Gracie competes alongside numerous other fellow Longhorns. But she enjoys working with them and the accomplishments they achieve together as a group.

“I think my favorite teammate to work with in practice is Maggie Nance,” she said. “She is my best friend but even though we are best friends, we push each other to be the best that we can. The highlight of my career so far would have to be when we won districts my freshman year, it was a really great experience. I also really like anytime that we beat Plainview. We are rivals and most people call it the Five Mile Feud.”
There have been people in her life that have made an impact and helped Gracie become who she is today.

“My grandpa and my dad are my role models,” she said. “They have both made me push myself to the very best I can be at all times. A teacher that has had an influence on me is Ms. Stephenson. She was my favorite teacher I have ever had at Lone Grove.”

Being able to wear the Longhorn uniform when she competes is special to Lewis.

“It feels really good knowing that a bunch of the Lone Grove community comes to watch us and cheer us on,” she said.
