Ardmore’s Blake Coronado – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Owen’s Insurance Agency

Throughout a career, there are times when an athlete feels like they want to give up. But it is in these moments that they determine what kind of athlete and person that they want to be. Blake Coronado says that there is one person that can help you when you get that low, and that is yourself.

“What has made me successful in sports would definitely be how I think or how I carry myself on and off the field,” he said. “When I wanted to quit so many times, I had to be the one to tell myself to get up and keep going. I would have to say that my biggest motivations are God, my parents, and my sister Bree.”

Blake is a senior and attends Take Two Academy in Ardmore. He has played baseball for most of his life and now plays for Ardmore.

Throughout his career, Coronado has made a lot of memories on and off the field with his teammates. But, as he looks back, there is one play that stands out as his favorite.
“My highlight would be when I got to play against Duncan and I bunted the ball and got all the way around to third,” he recalled. “It was a really great play.”

The guys that he plays alongside on the field are a solid group and he knows that they each do their part to make each other better.

“The person I like to go against in my practices would definitely be my best friend on the team, Rylee Wallace,” he said. “We’re both very competitive and like to push each other during both games and practices, but we also like to compete with each other.”

As a student-athlete, Blake knows he has to focus on his school work as much as he does his athletics. But he says that he is thankful for his school that helps him be able to do that.

“I am able to balance baseball and school all because of Take Two Academy,” he stated. “If it wasn’t for them I don’t even know where I would be right now. They helped me so much I would definitely recommend this school to anybody any day.”
