Ardmore High School senior Caleb Shirley is a multisport athlete, playing golf and esports for the Ardmore High School Tigers. As a golfer, Caleb is the 5th bag on the Ardmore High School Golf Team, and is the mid-laner in esports. Thus far, Caleb has played both golf and esports for 3 years at Ardmore High School.
Caleb highly values each opportunity he has to represent his school and community, when he plays sports. Caleb proclaimed, “It means so much to me to represent my school and community; I am proud to be a Tiger.”
For his biggest role models, Caleb looks to family and coaches. Caleb stated, “My biggest role models are my parents, because they have been learning golf along the road with me, and also my coaches who always help me to improve.”
As far as what motivates him, Caleb explained, “I am motivated by the urge to improve and always wanting to get better along with my parents support.”
In terms of someone during his school career that has impacted Caleb the most, he looks towards a specific coach as the inspiration. Caleb stated, “My golf coach, Zach Birth, has always helped me. He has taken the time to coach me, so I can improve.”
Many memories are made during the career of a high school athlete. For Caleb, there are two events that stick out in his mind as what he considers most memorable. Caleb recalled, “The highlight of my career were breaking 100 in golf, and making play offs in esports.”
In regards to a professional athlete that Caleb looks up to, he looks towards the PGA for the source. “It would have to be Tiger Woods; he amazes me with how he plays in golf.”
After graduating from Ardmore High School, Caleb has ambitions to continue pursuing his education. Caleb stated, “My plans are to attend college, or go to a mechanic school. I have not fully decided yet.”
