PLAINVIEW LADY INDIANS
Coach: GRANT GASH
2024-25 Record: 11-14
Momentum is beginning to build around Grant Gash’s program, and this season arrives with a sense of quiet confidence rather than uncertainty. After finishing 11–14 a year ago, the Lady Indians step into the new campaign with four returning starters, a stronger sense of identity, and a team that grew up quickly through last year’s battles. Now in his fourth year at the helm, Coach Gash believes his group is ready to take another major leap forward, one fueled by athleticism, pace, and the experience earned during a postseason run that showed this team exactly what it’s capable of.
Despite still being young, the Lady Indians bring back a core that logged meaningful minutes throughout the season, giving them a foundation few teams their age enjoy. Gash plans to lean heavily on speed and tempo, pushing the pace and letting his athletes make plays in transition. With heightened confidence and a year’s worth of growth behind them, the team has its sights set firmly on returning to the Area Tournament.
At the center of it all is Abby Chaney, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder last year at 14 points and 7 boards per game. Chaney has emerged as one of the state’s best shot blockers, ranking in the top 20 in blocks per game, while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field. But her value goes beyond numbers. She has grown immensely as a leader over the past two seasons, setting the tone on and off the court. Coach Gash credits her for embodying everything the program strives to be.
Junior Hadley Kamas enters the season poised for a breakout year after missing half of last season due to injury. She showed flashes of what she can do late in the year, delivering key double-digit scoring games during the team’s push to the postseason. Fully healthy and coming off a strong summer, Kamas is expected to be a major contributor.
Another cornerstone is Ally Brown, whose relentless work ethic separates her from most athletes. Whether it’s basketball, softball, or track, Brown constantly puts in extra time and embraces every challenge. Last season she drew the assignment of guarding the opponent’s best player and always rose to the task.
With leadership, depth, and an exciting young core, the Lady Indians enter the season equipped to take the next step, and determined to finish where last year’s journey left off.
