Plainview enters the 2026 fastpitch softball season with both momentum and motivation after a strong 28-9 campaign that ended at the state tournament. In head coach JC Yeatts’ second year at the helm, the Lady Indians bring back a wealth of experience and production, returning eight starters from last season’s successful run. That continuity, paired with a competitive edge sharpened by postseason play, positions Plainview as a team with high expectations and the tools to meet them.
A key strength for Plainview lies in its balanced lineup, featuring multiple returning All-District selections who have already proven their ability to perform at a high level. In the circle, right-handed pitcher Landree Upshaw provides stability and leadership, setting the tone defensively while giving the team a reliable presence against tough competition. Behind the plate, Bailey Fincher anchors the defense and helps manage the game, creating a strong battery combination that will be critical throughout the season.
Across the infield, Kamrey Martin at shortstop, Chloe Phelps at third base, and Allie Wood at first base form a dependable core that blends defensive consistency with offensive production. Their familiarity with one another allows Plainview to execute efficiently in pressure situations. In the outfield, Ally Brown and Maci Caldwell bring range and athleticism, helping limit opponents’ scoring opportunities while contributing at the plate.
After falling just short against eventual state champion Lone Grove in a tight 3-1 contest, Plainview enters the new season with a clear sense of unfinished business. The experience gained from that postseason run has fueled an offseason focused on improvement and preparation.
With a seasoned roster, proven playmakers, and another year under Coach Yeatts’ system, Plainview has the foundation to build on last year’s success. The Lady Indians will look to translate experience into results, aiming not only to return to the state tournament, but to take the next step and compete for a championship.
