Corbin Orr enters this season at Ardmore with one clear individual target and a team built around trust. “My personal goalfor this season is to qualify individually at state,” Orr said.
The chemistry around the squad stands out to him just as much as the scores. “Team morale is at an all-time high,” he said. “I’ve never been closer to a coach and teammates like this before. We are a family.” That bond has shown up in the way the team has improved. “We as a team are better golfers than we were last year by far, and it’s not close,” Orr said
The goals remain high, but he knows they will take work. “I want us to finish top five in a tournament, but we will have to put in tons of practice to achieve that,” he said. Their biggest advantage, in his view, is simple. “The team’s biggest strength is how close we are.”
Orr has earned a prominent role in the lineup. “On the team I play the role of the 1 bag,” he said. “I have to prove to my teammates I deserve the spot.” That responsibility shapes how he approaches each round. “I look for ways to calm or distract myself from the troubles ahead,” Orr said. “I just try and keep a clear mind so I can avoid any obstacles.” He keeps his focus centered on the next shot. “I try and keep a positive mindset and don’t dwindle on one bad shot,” he said.
His biggest priority is leaving something behind for younger golfers to follow. “I want to have a strong, respectable legacy so new golfers coming up will know who I am,” Orr said. The team also knows how to keep things light. “We may not be the best golfers, but we sure do have a lot of fun,” he said.
Music helps him lock in. “Bad State of Mind – Treat Oak Revival,” Orr said of his go-to song. One of his favorite memories came away from the fairway. “My favorite memory in an Ardmore uniform so far is not actually in a golf uniform,” he said. “It is breaking 17 in the 5K for the first time during cross country.”
Outside of golf, Orr stays active in multiple sports. “I plan to attend a college and run cross country and track.”
