Ardmore’s Teagan Combs – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by MTC Federal Credit Union

For Ardmore High School sophomore Teagan Combs, sports are more than just games, they’re an opportunity to represent her school, her family, and herself with pride. The sophomore splits her time between two very different but equally challenging sports: softball and tennis.

“What motivates me the most is making my family proud,” Teagan said. “They’ve supported me in everything I’ve done, and I want to give them a reason to cheer.”

One of Teagan’s biggest role models is basketball star Paige Bueckers, admired not just for her skills, but for her leadership, respect, and integrity. Those same traits are ones Teagan tries to bring to the field and the court. She credits Ardmore teacher and coach Morales-Vasquez for helping her grow. “She’s been so motivational and supportive to me,” Teagan said.

Her dedication is paying off. A highlight of Teagan’s young career came when she was pictured in the local paper and received an award from The Ardmoreite. “That was a special moment,” she said. “It reminded me that all the hard work and long practices are worth it.”

When it comes to competition, Teagan doesn’t have a “favorite” opponent to beat. “I love playing against high-skilled athletes who push me to my best,” she explained. In practice, her favorite challenge comes from teammate Kalana Taylor. “She pushes me to my full potential,” Teagan said. She’s also quick to point out the value of teammates like Zaelyn Stubblefeild. “Zaelyn is one of the hardest workers on our team and is very talented, but she doesn’t always get the recognition she deserves.”

Outside of sports, Teagan is active in choir and maintains a careful balance between school and athletics. “I stay organized, communicate with my teachers and coaches, and use my downtime wisely,” she said.

Whether it’s on the softball diamond or the tennis court, Teagan competes with the same mindset: make Ardmore proud. “I’m thankful for all of my teammates and especially Coach Marki for always believing in me,” she said.

With her work ethic, respect for the game, and drive to improve, Teagan Combs is just getting started.
