Tyson Laster, a junior at Ardmore High School, is out to make a name for himself. Involving himself in basketball, football, and track, Tyson plays quarterback and slot on the football field. His inspiration comes from his family, who are his biggest supporters. “ My siblings have accomplished a lot of great things in life, and my goal is to do the same.”
He mentioned Coach Birth as having a big impact on his life. “ From the beginning, he’s always believed in me, and is always there to help or give me advice when I need it,” He shares. All the support, hard work, and consistency made Tyson the athlete he is today, which led to his first offer from Sacramento State University as a junior.
Tyson loves a good matchup; one of his favorite rivalries is going up against Ada. It always makes for a fun challenge. When it comes to a teammate who keeps him working harder, he names Jamane Stubblefield. “He pushes me in practice every day to be better and stronger.” With that kind of teammate, dedication, and trust is what makes for an overall balance within the team so they’re ready for rivalries like Ada.
Beyond sports, Tyson gets inspiration from Pastor West. He posts encouraging prayers, motivational quotes, and just reminds you that prayer can change everything.
As he looks to the future, Tyson’s plans are simple: to earn his diploma and become a successful man in life. Representing his town is something he’s proud of. “My community means everything to me. I love my town.”
With a strong mental mindset, the support of his family and coaches, he is on the right track to success on the field and beyond.
