VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?
Gilberto: I will be a senior at Madill. I play football and basketball. I also throw shot and discuss on the track team.
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
Gilberto: I got into football by just watching highlights on YouTube when I was six and got signed up for
our local flag football league.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily
life?
Gilberto: To compete, life as a whole is a competition and I feel like sports has taught me to always compete at everything I do so I know whatever the outcome of anything I did I competed and did everything I could in order to succeed.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Gilberto: The brotherhood, every team I’ve been on has felt like an extra family to me. I’ve made a lot of friends playing sports so I’ve always been thankful for those guys.
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?
Gilberto: JJ Watt, I’ve just always liked his work ethic and his style of play. I also admire the way he gives back to his city outside of football from his charity foundation.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Gilberto: My dad, his work ethic has really inspired me just to always work hard in everything I do.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Gilberto: The Bahamas and I would take my family.

Gilberto: I’d like to shout out to my parents and all my coaches for all their support and help.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Gilberto: The support from the whole town and my peers always coming out to games and supporting the team cheering us on.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Gilberto: Steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus.
