Q&A with Ardmore’s Amir Paschal – Presented by Rib Crib

VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?

Amir: I am a junior at Ardmore and I run track.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Amir: Antoinette Gresham has had a huge impact on me during my 2024–2025 track season. As someone completely new to the sport, I looked up to her dedication, not just to the sport, but to the team. She encouraged me when I was too hard on myself, and I did the same for her. I’m incredibly thankful for the bond we built and so proud of everything she’s accomplished.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?

Amir: Track has taught me that it’s okay to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. Growth often comes from the unknown.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Amir: My favorite part is traveling to different schools and showing them that Ardmore has speed. Representing my school with pride and passion means everything to me.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Amir: “You won’t know you’re good at something if you’re too scared to give it a shot.” — Coach Allen.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?

Amir: Ms. Shelton is my favorite teacher because of the phenomenal way she teaches English. She makes learning accessible and easier for everyone, and because of her, my writing skills have improved tremendously.

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Amir: Wingstop or seafood—can’t go wrong with either one!

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Amir: I’d go to Barbados and bring my cousins Haley and Rere with me. It’d be a dream trip.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Amir: I want to thank all of the coaches who dedicated their time and energy to helping me improve, and my parents, Shakedra Pace and Freddie Paschal, for always believing in me. I also want to thank my amazing teammates for picking me up whenever I felt down. Your support means the world to me.
