Q&A with Lone Grove’s Maddy Torres – Presented by Lone Grove Dental Care Center

VYPE: What grade are you in?

Madison: I am a senior at Lone Grove High School.

VYPE: What sports do you play?

Madison: Cross country, basketball, track, and golf.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?

Madison: Humility- You’re not always going to be the best. Things aren’t always going to go the way you want so you just have to keep working. When you’re doing well, it’s important to stay humble and stay in the gym. Never get comfortable.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?

Madison: Mr. Whitfel from junior and senior year. He is really kind and I appreciate his passion for teaching and for his students.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school and community when you compete?

Madison: Inspiring young female athletes and leading by example. Being a student athlete requires a lot of hard work, commitment, and sacrifice. I love encouraging people and helping them realize they can do anything they set their mind to.

VYPE: What is the best advice anyone has given you?

Madison: To remember that you’re not doing it for yourself. You’re doing it for the honor and glory of God.

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Madison: Sushi

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where are you going and who are you taking?

Madison: San Diego, CA and I’m taking my family.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?

Madison: I want to play basketball in college and get a degree in aviation.
