Davis enters 2026 as a seasoned contender in Class 2A under longtime head coach Greg Parker, who is in his 29th year at the school and eighth as head coach. Parker says, “We have a lot of experience coming back, we have had a great off season, and we are excited to get started,” underscoring the confidence around a group that returns the bulk of its production from a 10-3 team. With an intact offensive line, a veteran quarterback and multiple returning backs, the Wolves are built to control games physically. Their schedule again features a tough district slate, but the staff believes this experienced core is equipped to make another deep postseason push.
On offense, Davis will stick with its traditional flexbone identity. Parker describes the approach as a “flex bone” system and says, “We are a ball control offense with big play potential. Our o-line is intact from last year and our QB and both FB’s are back.” Senior quarterback Dax Owens (5-11, 190) is the engine after piling up 1,300 rushing yards and 700 passing yards with 22 total touchdowns last season, and he has already started 33 games, leading Davis to a state championship in 2024 and a semifinal appearance in 2025. Junior fullback Creed Rogers (6-2, 230) brings a punishing presence inside after rushing for 1,000 yards and 20 touchdowns, while senior halfback Ethan Rushing (6-3, 200) added 450 rushing yards despite missing the last half of the year with injury. The offensive line is led by senior Jacob Silva (6-2, 340), a three-year starter and “leader of our o-line,” alongside senior Jesse DeMoss (6-0, 275), giving Davis a veteran front to lean on. With nine offensive starters returning, the Wolves will look to control the clock, wear down defenses and still hit big plays when opponents overcommit to the run.
Defensively, Davis bases out of a 3-4 look that emphasizes movement and aggression. Parker explains that “We slant our front and just like everyone else, we want to control the line of scrimmage and chase the football,” a mindset that relies on discipline up front and relentless pursuit from the back seven. Inside, Rogers doubles as a tackling machine at linebacker after posting 94 stops, while senior defensive tackle/tight end Landon Gibson (6-1, 250) is a four-year starter on defense and three-year starter on offense, serving as “the leader of our d-line and one of the leaders of our team.” Senior outside linebackers Jaxon Wright (5-8, 170) and Maxx Hammer (6-0, 170) combined for 123 tackles, and junior free safety Braxton Thompson (5-11, 165) brings speed and physicality after rotating at safety and corner. With eight defensive starters back and a scheme that moves the front and swarms to the ball, Davis expects this unit to complement its ball-control offense by limiting big plays, winning the line of scrimmage and keeping the Wolves in every game deep into November.
