Lone Grove High School’s junior, Chase Warden, is out to make a statement as an athlete, involving himself in multiple sports. Whether he’s under the Friday night lights, on the wrestling mat, or running the track, Chase is always out to push himself and give everything his all.
Family motivates him to work hard on and off the field. He gives credit to his mom and dad as his greatest role models. “They keep me grounded,” he states.
Chase names a specific teacher, Mr. Castonguay, as having a lasting impact on his life and sports career. He shared that, “he’s always been there for his students, with the ability to turn a bad day into a better one.”
One highlight of his career was playing as a freshman in the state playoffs, definitely a feat in itself. Getting on the field that night didn’t come easy, mentioning “he had to work extra hard in the gym.”
Chase works hard alongside his teammates, he especially enjoys teaming up with and against quarterback Tatum Quinn, and center Brandon Heckethorn.” We all push each other hard in the weight room.” They understand that it takes work to make it to the top. Tyson is also active in FCA and a group that meets to focus on learning about God, called P7. Faith and friends are what keeps him humble.
A rival that really gets his fire burning is Plain View, a school he attended for nine years before switching to Lone Grove. ”It just feels different when you’re playing a team you grew up with, it makes you want it even more.”
To Chase, Lone Grove has given him opportunities that he’ll never forget. “It means a lot to represent my school. I want the younger kids who watch the games to be able to look up to me because of who I am as a person and a player.” For Chase, it’s more than wearing a jersey, “ School comes first.” Having this attitude and drive definitely is setting him up for a future bigger than himself.
