Lone Grove’s Zane Hale – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Wade Cattle Co.

Zane Hale is quickly making a name for himself as a versatile athlete at Lone Grove High School, bringing energy, discipline and a team-first mindset to every snap and practice.

Hale, who will be a sophomore this fall, already embraces a demanding role on the football field, contributing as a wide receiver, quarterback and safety. The mental side of the game, he said, is one of the biggest challenges.

“The hardest part is making decisions when everything is happening so fast,” Hale said. “You just have to trust yourself and stay calm.”

That composure comes from preparation. Before games, Hale studies film on Hudl, reviewing plays and mentally working through possible scenarios. It is a routine that reflects a deeper commitment to improvement — something he credits in part to his parents.

“I’d say my parents inspire me,” Hale said. “They’ve always supported me, made me better, and pushed me to be the best version of myself. They’ve sacrificed a lot so I can play the sports I love.”

Hale also points to Coach Pybas as a key influence, both on and off the field.

“He got me closer to God, and he’s always wanted to see me succeed in everything I do,” Hale said.

While Hale enjoys the competition, what stands out most to him is the bond within the team.

“Being around my teammates every day,” he said. “We all push each other to get better, and it’s fun getting to compete with them.”

That connection has helped create memorable moments, including a standout playoff performance.

“One of my favorite memories was getting into the first round of the playoffs and getting a big first down,” Hale said. “A moment like that is hard to beat.”

Away from school and sports, Hale stays active by spending time with friends and family, working out, hunting, fishing, and playing baseball and football whenever he can.

Through it all, athletics has shaped his outlook on life.

“It’s taught me that hard work pays off,” Hale said. “You have to stay disciplined, find a way to get it done when things aren’t going your way, and be a good teammate.”

With a strong support system and a clear sense of purpose, Hale continues to build a foundation for success both on the field and beyond.
