Plainview’s Dominique Coursey – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by The Station Sports Bar & Grill and Dr. Kathryn Coursey Family Medicine

Plainview High School sophomore Dominique Coursey is already making his mark as a standout multi-sport athlete, competing in football, basketball, and track. Though only a sophomore, he has quickly earned a reputation for his work ethic, leadership, and the pride he carries each time he represents Plainview.

One of Dominique’s proudest memories comes from the football field, where he had the opportunity to play alongside an exceptional group of seniors during his sophomore season. Competing with upperclassmen pushed him to grow quicker, work harder, and embrace the responsibility that comes with being part of a successful team.

Sports have taught Dominique lessons he carries far beyond the playing surface. Discipline, teamwork, and supporting those around him are values that shape who he is both as an athlete and as a person. He credits much of that growth to the people who have impacted him, starting with his mom, his biggest inspiration. Her constant encouragement, strength, and belief in him motivate him to keep striving for more.

Dominique also gives credit to his favorite teacher, Coach Growall, for teaching him responsibility and accountability, lessons he applies daily. On the court, former basketball teammates Dane Dickerson and Jace Chaney left a lasting impression on him with their relentless work ethic and ability to push everyone around them to be better.

Representing Plainview High is something Dominique does not take lightly. The pride of wearing the school’s name across his chest and competing in front of supportive students, staff, and community members is one of his favorite parts of being an athlete. The best advice he’s ever received, “Stay humble and keep working hard. Keep the main thing the main thing.”, serves as his guiding mindset.

Off the field, Dominique is involved in FCA and loves giving shoutouts to those who support his journey, especially Plainview Head Boys Basketball Coach Dion Stevenson and Coach Parham, who continue to motivate and guide him.

With dreams of giving back to his community, a desire to cherish life’s moments (especially if he could pause time), and favorites like brownies, chicken strips, and fries, Dominique stays grounded. He looks up to Russell Westbrook for his passion, intensity, and commitment to giving back.
