Junior multi-sport athlete Jett Frankum has grown into one of Plainview High School’s most versatile competitors, and his impact stretches well beyond Friday nights under the lights. He splits his time between football, wrestling, and track, and each sport has helped shape a well-rounded athlete who thrives on both speed and toughness. On the football field he can line up almost anywhere, from running back and slot to outside linebacker and strong safety, and he is a reliable option on punt and kick returns. That willingness to play wherever the team needs him has made him a valuable piece of Plainview’s lineup.
Frankum’s approach is grounded in consistency and year-round work, the kind that happens away from crowds and scoreboards. Track has sharpened his explosiveness and acceleration, while wrestling has instilled a strong work ethic and accountability that carries over to every practice and game. Earning playing time early in his career and contributing as a younger player stands out as a highlight, because it showed him how much effort it takes to compete at that level and pushed him to raise his standard even higher.
He credits the people around him for helping shape his path. His parents modeled hard work and humility, and his mother emphasized doing things the right way without shortcuts. Wrestling coach Rocky Atencio has been a steady mentor, pushing him to go further while keeping him grounded through the ups and downs. In the classroom, Coach Gash made math accessible and even enjoyable, showing patience and explaining concepts in ways that clicked.
Frankum values the teammates who challenge him, like practice partner Dom Coursey, and he never overlooks the offensive line that does the heavy lifting up front. Away from competition he stays involved through Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Student Council, and he looks to trainers and athletes on social media for new ideas and motivation. For him, representing Plainview means playing for teammates, coaches, classmates, family, and a supportive community, and his goal is to keep improving every year as a student, athlete, and teammate.
