Kate Taylor is more than an athlete at Pauls Valley High School; she’s a devoted junior whose love for the game came long before she stepped on the varsity court. Representing Paul’s Valley in basketball, cheer, and tennis, Taylor excels as a student athlete, knowing what it takes to balance it all.
On the court, Taylor stands out as a confident, reliable shooting guard. But her favorite part of her journey so far comes from the support of the people that matter the most.
“My family and coaches have always pushed me in the right direction,” she says. “Having people who believe in me motivates me to keep going.”
Taylor draws deep inspiration from the female athlete, Caitlin Clark, whose impact on women’s sports has boosted viewership, attendance, and respect for the game. Taylor hopes to embody that same positivity and teamwork in her own basketball journey. She also acknowledges her math teacher, Mrs. Barnes, who consistently shows up for her students and is always willing to support them in whatever way they need.
As a sophomore, Taylor earned First Team All-Conference, an accomplishment she’s especially proud of after years of dedication and commitment to the sport. She approaches every matchup equally, whether it’s a rival school or a smaller program, bringing the same intensity every time she steps on the court with her team.
“I enjoy beating every team the same because I love to win,” she shares.
The person she is today is a direct reflection of the community that raised her, shaping the athlete she’s become. Taylor works every day to embody that support and to set an example for younger athletes both on and off the court. More than just an athlete, Taylor is involved in Business Professionals of America, Student Council, Academic Team, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, mastering it all with the time management she’s skilled with.
“I take pride in where I’m from, so I’m always intentional about the way I act and the things I say,” she shares with pride.
Looking ahead, Taylor plans to attend Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in dentistry, following her own advice to younger athletes to chase their dreams. She reminds them that “hard work really does pay off.”
