Junior Henry Harlow wears multiple hats for Plainview High School, thriving as a catcher and pitcher in baseball while leading as quarterback in football.
An early breakthrough set the tone for his career. “One accomplishment that I am proud of is being the starting catcher for the varsity season opener my freshman year,” he said.
Those experiences have shaped his approach to life. “Baseball has taught be that to be great you have to be willing to put in the work,” Harlow said. “This has made me a better person by teaching me that talent can only carry me so far and showing me that hard work is going to beat talent every day.”
One coach doubles as his favorite educator. “My favorite teacher is my AP US History teacher, coach Tweedy,” he said. “Every day he shows up with a smile on his face ready to teach. He absolutely loves what he does and not once has he come to school not wanting to make everyone around him better. He loves what he does and that is very inspiring to me.”
Family provides his deepest motivation. “My dad inspires me,” Harlow said. “He has overcome so many obstacles in his lifetime. He has shown me that nothing is impossible, my dreams are not something of imagination.”
Two former teammates became mentors. “I have two teammates that have impacted me and my baseball career. Cooper Lewis and Austin Eubanks,” he said. “These were two seniors my freshman year. They were like my big brothers. They took me under their wings and showed me the ropes of High school baseball.”
Pride swells when he steps on the field. “My favorite part about representing my school as an athlete is being able to say that I play for Plainview High school,” Harlow said. “That is something that I take pride in, and I think all my teammates should too.”
Faith and family anchor his gratitude. “I want to thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ, for without him I would be nothing, nowhere,” Harlow said. “I would also like to thank my parents. They have been in my corner since day one rooting for me, pushing me to be the best I can be.”
