2026 Plainview Football Preview – Presented by Craddock Funeral Home

PLAINVIEW INDIANS
Coach: SCOTT PRATT
7-4

Plainview enters 2026 believing the pieces are in place to take another step forward after a solid 7-4 campaign a year ago. With a strong mix of returning experience and emerging talent, the Indians have attacked the offseason with purpose, hoping that their work in the weight room and summer sessions translates into a deeper postseason run this fall. “I’m optimistic about our team’s upcoming season,” says head coach Scott Pratt. “If we stay focused, continue developing as a team, and compete consistently, I believe we can achieve our goals and have a successful season.”
Offensively, Plainview will base out of a spread look, aiming to stay balanced while still being able to run between the tackles when it wants to. The Indians are especially excited about the big guys up front, where a veteran offensive line returns to pave the way for an explosive skill group that could be among the best in Class 3A. Playmakers like Dominique Coursey (6-3, 210), Jaden Smith (5-11, 170) and Jett Frankum (5-9, 185) give Plainview multiple options as runners and receivers, while tight end Gray Barrett (6-0, 205) adds a physical presence and reliable target in the passing game. With so many weapons, Plainview expects to stress defenses horizontally and vertically on Friday nights.
On the defensive side, Plainview will again lean on a 4-2-5 base that allows the Indians to match up with wide sets while still being stout in the box. The strength of the unit lies in the defensive line and secondary, where several starters return with meaningful experience and production. Coursey headlines the group at outside linebacker after racking up 58 tackles, three sacks and three interceptions, while Smith and Frankum bring range and toughness to the defensive backfield. Up front, Ethan Eads (6-0, 215), Chase Howell (6-3, 200) and Barrett give Plainview a physical core that should set the tone at the line of scrimmage.
